About Kimono

The kimono is the traditional costume of Japan, and have been used for a very long time. The colours are often bright and colourful, the designs can be sophisticated and intricate. Formal kimono are made made from silk, and feel smooth and luxurious. In modern Japan we don't often see ladies wearing Kimono casually in public. Instead we only wear these amazing costumes for special occasions such as weddings. Kimono are very expensive so we don't have the opportunity to wear them often, but in summer we can see a lot of ladies wearing a more casual form of kimono called a "yukata".

These yukata are made from cotton, making them easier to wear and care for, and of course, cheaper to buy. Just like formal kimono, yukata are beautiful and very colourful, but they are more casual, cute, and light, which also means they can be worn more regularly.

Kimono make ladies look beautiful and feminine, and they make a special and unique impression. When you wear kimono, you will draw attention from everyone around you - they are magical!

Once you try one you will be crazy about kimono too!
